New Year, New Baby :)

So we're officially announcing it! After 6 months of trying, God has blessed us with a little bundle of joy. I've seen lots of friends post their sonogram on Facebook to share the news, so we decided to do something a little different...

Yes, that would be a little baby Mario if you're wondering. And yes, I digitally erased my actual baby to make this picture. ^_^;; I still like my announcement idea better than K's though, which was to take a picture of my hands around his tummy with the caption "We're pregnant!"

Given that this is our first kiddo, I'd like to say how woefully misinformed I was about this whole pregnancy process. First off, the only symptom I ever heard about was the infamous morning sickness. Not so! It's the extreme fatigue is what gets me. As a type A-er, it's frustrating to no longer have the energy to complete basic chores around the house. Oh, and the crying! I can't stand the hair-trigger tears that seem to spring to my eyes at the slightest provocation. One time I started bawling because K said "ho ho ho" one too many times (don't ask).

Anyway, just wanted to share the good news with you all so you can keep me, K, and our baby geek in your prayers. If you have any baby-related advice to share for us newbie parents, please let me know in the Comments!

Question:
What was the thing you least expected after having children?

Oh Horrrayy!!!
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you guys!
Sorry, but I can't answer your question yet from personal experience but when my sister got pregnant all she seemed to do was eat. I did not expect her to be able to eat a whole pizza, family size salad and pasta dish in one sitting...but she did! lol

Congratulations!!Babies are so exciting! Even though I have three myself my advice to you is ignore most of the advice you are going to start getting.

Natural childbirt/planned C, bottle/breast, co-sleeping/crib down the hall, cloth diapers/disposible, Super Nanny/Baby Whisperer....none of it really matters in the long run. You have to just relax, ride the wave, and learn to trust your own instincts and find your own rhythm as a family. Rule number one: Love your baby.

My own three are 8, 6, and 4. They couldn't be more different than each other if they tried (not even apples and oranges and grapes--more like apples and plaid and parallelograms) Every time I thought I had it figured out someone changed the playbook on me!

Watching your baby grow up is so much fun. You will be great!

(I am so glad I stumbled upon your blog--I have my own software developing/gamer husband and it is nice to find someone else in the world who understands what life is like in that world!)

Thanks so much, everyone! We're super excited. :D

@LeeAnn - That's awesome! I haven't had any major cravings, but I did single-handedly down an entire bag of "family sized" chips. (Hey, the baby counts as family...)

@Not Jenny - Haha, thanks so much for the advice about ignoring advice and remembering that every child is different. Very wise. And so delighted to have you as a reader! We gamer wives have got to stick together. ;)

@Mollie - I love you cute Yoshi family tree!! That is waaaayy awesome; do you mind if I feature it on my blog?
