Nom Nom Pata Nom!!

I just came across another kinda geeky yet edible craft: kyaraben (or charaben). Short for "character bento," this idea of character-themed lunches and meals originated from Japan as a clever tool to trick children into eating their veggies (and other "yucky" but nutritious foods). However, as with most simple hobbies, it has now evolved into an obsessive artform with its own community, contests, and jargon. One such member, Anna the Red, has created a jaw-dropping portfolio of kyaraben, with such incredible attention to detail and abounding creativity. See it to believe it:

Bioshock

Patapon

Half-Life

Legend of Zelda

She doesn't just do video game bentos, but all sorts of cute animals, anime characters, TV shows... as well as delicious pasteries and hors d'oeuvres (with recipes included). My goodness, her boyfriend sure got lucky. O_O
