What A Girl Wants

K and I aren't real big Valentine's Day fans. Not that we're anti-red-and-pink day, we just don't make a huge deal about gifts for anniversaries, monthiversaries, etc. However, the Wednesday before V-day, our Bible study had a social night and decided to play the game Spouse-ology, which is kinda like the TV show, The Newlywed Game. One of the questions for the husbands was "What kind of flower does your wife prefer?"

          a. Tulip
          b. Daisy
          c. Rose
          d. Carnation

When I told this story to best friend Sophia who has known me for 20+ years, she immediately quipped, "Roses! You've always loved the smell of them." My husband who has only known me for 3.5 years answered, "Daisy." Huh? His reasoning is that I'm a non-traditional kind of girl so there's no way I'd like roses, and I'm really upbeat and cheerful, which reminds him of daisies. Sigh, at least he didn't say "carnation."

My reaction during the game must have been quite extraordinary because that weekend he surprised me with a huge bouquet of pink-yellow roses (he still chose a non-traditional color, which I loved). As for me, I made a baby Cthulhu for his cubicle at work. I guess we are a pair of sentimental fools after all.

P.S. The red felt heart is removable, since K didn't want to wussify his Cthulhu too much. ^_~

P.P.S. Cthulhu is this fictional elder god creature referenced in H.P. Lovecraft's short stories. I'm not sure why, but it has a huge geek following.
